Transferring Impaticized Files to the BlackBerry

If you encounter problems transferring your impaticized presentation to your BlackBerry, try the following procedure:

  • Launch the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
  • Plug your BlackBerry into a USB port on your computer.
  • At the bottom of the Desktop Manager window, make sure it says "Connected" and the PIN number of your BlackBerry is displayed.
  • If you do not see this message (i.e., the message says "Disconnected"), disconnect your BlackBerry from the USB port and reconnect it.
  • Once you see the "Connected" message and your BlackBerry's PIN number is displayed, re-launch the Impatica Presentation Viewer on the handheld.
  • Click the trackwheel/trackball to display the Impatica Presentation Viewer menu and select "Wait for PC transfer".
  • In Impatica for PowerPoint on the PC, click the "Put File" button.

If you are still having problems, make sure that you are running the latest version of our Impatica for PowerPoint software and Impatica Presentation Viewer.

We also suggest that you upgrade to the newest version of BlackBerry desktop manager available from www.blackberry.com. This is particularly important for use with the 8800/8300 series handhelds.

Background Music In Impaticized Presentations

A continuous soundtrack can add flair and style!

A musical soundtrack that plays throughout your entire PowerPoint presentation can be a wonderful accent, making your presentation memorable and effective. The best way to get your sound file to play during the entire slide show would be to insert the sound on the slide transition in PowerPoint. Here's how you would do that in PowerPoint XP/2003:

  1. Open your presentation in PowerPoint.
  2. Make slide 1 an introductory slide that contains no sound files. We recommend not using large sound files on the first slide as it takes longer for the presentation to load. By the time the viewer has finished reading the first slide, the sound file that you inserted on slide 2 will have begun loading.
  3. Select slide 2.
  4. Click the "Slide Show" menu, then "Slide Transition".
  5. In the area that appears to the right-hand side of the screen, there will be a dropdown box called "Sound". Click the dropdown box and scroll to the bottom where it says "Other Sound". Click "Other Sound".
  6. You can then search for your sound file and insert it on the slide transition for slide 2. Save your presentation.
  7. Add your presentation to Impatica for PowerPoint.
  8. Click the Media tab and under "Wait for Sound" uncheck the option labeled "At End of Slide". This will allow the slides to transition as you have set them while the sound plays in the background. This option is checked by default. Also ensure that the "At end of animation" checkbox is deselected.
  9. Click the "Impaticize" button to convert your presentation.

Note: This process is only recommended for musical background sound and not for narration files.
