Yes, the channel is encrypted as of version 2.1.0 of the ShowMate firmware. This version of the firmware was released with 03 series ShowMate devices. The latest version of the ShowMate firmware can be downloaded here: http://www.impatica.com/showmate/updater/.

2. Can presentations be retrieved from the ShowMate?
No, there is currently no way to extract presentations from the ShowMate.
