1. How do I use Registered Converters only?

2. The Converters don’t seem to start or appear on the Status tab. What could be the cause of this?

1. How do I use Registered Converters only?
This can be done by changing the "Service Registration Settings" on the "Configuration" tab in your Impatica for BES Administration Utility. When using registered converters only you'll need to specify their IP addresses. It is also mandatory to specify the IP address for the registered conversion manager. Edit the fields below each respective check box (i.e., Use registered converters only, Use registered conversion managers only) and enter the IP addresses for your registered converters and conversion managers. Once done, click the apply button and restart the Impatica for BES services.

2. The Converters don’t seem to start or appear on the Status tab. What could be the cause of this?
There could be two possible scenarios where this would occur:

  1. The Converters are not being called in your configuration. This can be determined by viewing the ImpaticaConversionManager.log in C:\Program Files\ImpaticaForBES\log. If the "converter pool=0", then there are no converters being associated;
  2. Check the "Service Registration Settings" on the Configuration Tab of the Impatica for BES Administration Utility. The setting should, in most cases, be set to "Use local converters only" and all 4 subsequent settings should appear blank and un-checked. If the converters are resident on the local machine, select "Use local converters only" and restart the Impatica for BES services.

3. I changed some settings in the Configuration tab but it doesn’t seem to recognize the change. Why is that?
After you change the value, click outside the field being edited and click the Apply button. Ensure that you restart all services for the changes to take effect. If any of the following fields are changed in the Configuration tool then the handler must be updated:

  • Full e-mail address
  • Enable editing of maximum cache size on handler
  • Maximum handler cache size (bytes)
