1. When I select the "Project Presentation" menu option I get a "No ShowMate found" dialog asking to Retry. What's going on?
Please verify that you have version 1.1.5f or higher of the Impatica Presentation Viewer. Previous versions do not support Bluetooth. See also Projecting FAQ.
2. When I select the Project Presentation menu option and select my ShowMate from the list I get a message "Unable to open serial port". How can I fix that?
Ensure that your BlackBerry has Bluetooth enabled. Check in "Options > Bluetooth".
3. When I select the "Project Presentation" menu option I get a dialog box with "Project Devices". "USB Connected" is the only item in the list. How do I get my Bluetooth-connected ShowMate to be added to this list?
Before you can project a presentation via Bluetooth on your ShowMate, you must successfully pair the BlackBerry with the ShowMate. In the Blackberry "Options" menu, select "Bluetooth" and ensure that Bluetooth is enabled. Once enabled, select the "Add device" menu option and wait for Bluetooth devices to be discovered. Select your ShowMate from the list and enter the passkey when prompted. Only a successfully paired ShowMate will be displayed in the list of Project devices.
4. What is the name of my ShowMate?
The default name for the ShowMate is ShowMate <6 digit #> where the 6 digit # is the last 6 digits in the last block of digits in the ShowMate serial number found on the back of the device.
5. Can I change the name of my ShowMate?
No, you cannot. Some BlackBerry devices will cache the Bluetooth name even after you change it which can lead to confusion.
6. What is the passkey for my ShowMate?
The default passkey for the ShowMate is the first 4 digits in the last block of digits in the ShowMate serial number found on the back of the device.
7. Can I change the passkey for my ShowMate?
Yes, you can change the passkey, but we encourage people not to do so. If you happen to forget or lose your new passkey, there is currently no way to retrieve or reset it (see next FAQ).
The default passkey can be changed from the BlackBerry. On the BlackBerry, launch the Impatica Presentation Viewer and select the "Configure ShowMate" menu option. Click the "Change passkey" button and enter the old and new passkeys. The settings will take effect on the next restart of the ShowMate.
8. I changed the passkey for the ShowMate and I forget what it is. How can I reset my passkey?
You cannot currently reset the passkey. In the future we will have an upgrader that will support this feature. If this situation applies to you, please contact Impatica Customer Support at support@impatica.com.

9. When I project via Bluetooth I keep getting disconnected. What's going on?
Ensure that you are staying within the Bluetooth range supported by your device. You should be able to maintain a connection within a 10m range of the ShowMate; however, with some BlackBerry handhelds we are seeing ranges around 20m. If you are within the range supported by your BlackBerry verify that the power adapter is supplying a constant charge. If you look at the ShowMate LED it should maintain a constant intensity.
10. I can’t seem to pair the ShowMate with my BlackBerry. I am getting an "Unable to pair with ShowMate" error. What am I doing wrong?
- Ensure that you have Bluetooth enabled on your BlackBerry.
- Ensure that the provided Bluetooth adapter is inserted in the ShowMate and the ShowMate is powered on (LED should be on). (Note: 03 and some 02 series ShowMates have Bluetooth built in)
- Wait for the splash screen to be displayed before trying to pair with the ShowMate.
- If you are doing all of the above correctly, your BlackBerry can "discover" your ShowMate and it still seems that the passkey is not being accepted, it is possible that you have a bad ShowMate unit. Please contact support@impatica.com for a replacement ShowMate.
11.When I try to add a device in the Bluetooth menu my ShowMate shows up with name "ShowMate ??????". Why is that?
It is possible that your ShowMate has corrupt firmware. Try to upgrade the firmware using the ShowMate upgrader which is available for download from http://www.impatica.com/showmate/updater/. If the upgrade does not work then your ShowMate will have to be shipped back to us for an exchange. If this situation applies to you, please contact Impatica Customer Support at support@impatica.com.
12. I lost my Bluetooth adapter. Can I use any Bluetooth adapter with the ShowMate?
If you have lost your Bluetooth adapter, please contact our Customer Support team to request a replacement adapter. (Note: 03 and some 02 series ShowMates have Bluetooth built in)
