Inc. to Acquire 80% Interest in Japanese Distributor OTTAWA, Canada and Tokyo, Japan May 28, 2002 - Impatica Inc. announced today that it has entered into a letter of intent to acquire 80% of the issued and outstanding shares of Intack Corporation, Impatica's exclusive distributor in Japan. "Since the release of a Japanese version of Impatica for PowerPoint last August, the company has made significant progress in developing distribution channels and expanding its Japanese customer base, thanks to Intack," commented Michael Doyle, CEO of Impatica. "With Japan leading the world in the deployment of Java-enabled cell phones, this is an extremely important next step in the advancement of Impatica products in the growing Japanese market." Japanese revenues from the sale of desktop and mobile software, the very markets on which Impatica is focused, is expected to reach approximately $23.7 billion US by 2006, according to figures from Gartner Dataquest. "Since becoming Impatica's distributor, with the help of Intack's partners in Japan, we have been able to find wide acceptance for Impatica products here," said Tatsuhiko Miyazaki, President of Intack. "As a result, we look forward to expanding Impatica's presence in Japan." This investment is subject to completion of due diligence and the negotiation and execution of definitive agreements and other final documentation.
